Resume anywhere: playback that remembers

How BentoStream keeps your place across devices with server-side progress — and why we built it that way.

You start an episode on the train, get off, open your laptop at home — and the player already knows where you were. No scrubbing, no guessing.

That’s because progress lives on the server, not just in one browser’s local storage. When you rate a title afterward on our −10…+10 tea scale, that feeds into its BentoScore and the Top 100 leaderboard, so the catalog stays shaped by the people actually watching it.

A couple of details we care about:

  • Dual-orientation renditions. Every episode ships in both 16:9 and 9:16. Flip between them with a single tap — landscape on the couch, portrait on the phone.
  • Real streaming. CMAF/HLS playback, adaptive bitrate, the works — tuned for a fast start and a stable stream.

There’s more coming on the discovery side — recommendations designed to break echo chambers rather than feed them. We’ll write about that soon.
